You’ve been seeing this guy for a few weeks or maybe a few months. Heck it’s summer… you’ve been seeing him quite a lot. Your friends keep asking you who he is but you haven’t even had ‘the talk’ with him yet to fully label him as your boyfriend. He hasn’t even brought it up.
You’re both probably both trying to avoid the topic completely.
In a culture where relationships are overrated and more people are hooking up than cuffing’ up, talking about it might actually break what you’ve both started.
If you’re not sure where you stand, here are 5 reasons why you’ve remained in the hookup zone:
It started casual.
Maybe you started out as fuck friends because you both weren’t ready for a relationship or you didn’t want to commit. After all, it’s okay to test the water before jumping in. If there was no expectation to commit to one another in the foreseeable future then he probably hasn’t considered you as girlfriend material. Try to make him understand that at this point, it’s what you want to be.
If you weren’t clear about what you wanted at the very beginning then who can blame the guy for not taking it a step further? He can’t read your mind. Unless you clearly express how you feel you’ll stay stuck in the fuck friend zone. Forever.
You’ve been ignoring the signs that he’s emotionally unavailable. He’s always leaving right after you hook up because he always has an early day the next day or he’s always busy during the day working. You’ve never been on an actual date and hell you probably never saw him in daylight. Those are signs he’s just not ready to commit with you.
Why buy the cow, when you can get the milk for free?
Yep, we’ve all heard the saying but this normally refers to sex. He’s getting all the benefits of a relationship but without the commitment. That’s actually quite smart. You’re inviting him over, sucking his cock meanwhile he isn’t hanging around. Why should he stay if he’s getting all the perks in an hour?
He’s just not into you.
Like the book and the movie, maybe you’re not meant for each other. The sex is great but that’s all it really is. Sex. If you’re looking for more try to quit sex and see what he says. If a man wants to be with you, he will do whatever it takes to have you.
